Full Name: Declan Blake Cooper
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Description:
Dark hair and impossibly light- mock worthy silver, in fact- eyes define this youth. With serious expressions and steady fast disinterest, Declan can blend into a crowd well. But antagonize him, and his cold anger can be very unpleasant. Not one to yell in public, he'll settle for glaring and biding his time.
Standing at five feet, seven inches, Declan isn't the tallest or most intimidating figure. He weighs a hundred and twenty-seven pounds and lacks visible muscles, a fact that mortifies him. But his agile nature and fluid motion remain, bearing testament to the childhood of gymnastic lessons.
Personality:
Declan is not the most sociable person, but he is quite caring. He aspires to have a family- the modest, two-and-a-half kids and a wife sort of dream. And, realistically, it's probably what he's best suited for. Forming lasting relationships is a bit of a struggle for him, so prioritizing a small group would be in his best interest.
Suspicious and vengeful, Declan doesn't tolerate disrespect or ill intentions. He's not out to be liked or to fit in, and he tolerates loneliness by pretending he's immune to it. But pay enough attention to him and you'll see a childish attitude shining through. That childish attitude can give away his true feelings and square him away in the "normal" category.
He's often anxious, but he's not one to confide in others. His version of humor is often blunt honesty, and his reaction to other people's humor isn't often more than a smile. He's uncomfortable in crowds, unprepared for the attention to be focused on him.
Abilities:
Vector manipulation, the ability to manipulate or infuse kinetic energy upon objects from a distance. Does not require physical contact. Uses include:
Dorm Description:
Declan doesn't care much for changing the room beyond the standard issue bed, dresser, and white walls. He did, however, add a three-foot rectangular mirror placed horizontally beside the bed (which got moved against the wall, near the window) that he often draws on with dry erase markers. He's also got a very simple, plywood desk with deep blue, near black, wood plastic coating that came from home, and a rolling desk chair with blue upholstery. Everything else, furniture and decoration-wise, came with the dorm.
Family History:
Declan was born in Germany to ambitious American parents. Traveling was his father's life, but his mother loved Germany from the moment they arrived. Her pregnancy with their baby, Declan, was the perfect excuse to settle. An excuse Avery Cooper expected her husband to embrace. When he didn't, Avery resolved to remain in Germany with her son. Not long after, suspicion festered. Was there an affair keeping Gage Cooper away?
Their relationship dissolved within three months. By Declan's first birthday the divorce was final and the birthday party was an awkward precursor to his parents version of "joint custody".
Declan's father, Gage, was a tired, but patient man- a fair, but rarely present figure who's idea of "bonding" was a trip to the toy store well past Declan's thirteenth birthday. Gage also was the reason Declan was among the first in his year to get a cell phone, then an iPad. Had he not been sent away to school, he also would have been within the first waves of students to get their sweet sixteen cars. Gage met his first serious girlfriend after Avery when Declan was six. Declan was introduced to her, but refused to speak. Gage persisted, bringing her along each time he visited, but Declan stubbornly refused. Their relationship lasted a year and a half.
Gage's second wife was his next serious girlfriend. They married when Declan was nine years old. Declan served as his father's best man, a title that filled him with pride. The first real conversation he had with his stepmom was at the wedding- the three years prior, it had been barely a nicety, or nothing at all. Declan would never be as close to his stepmom as he was to his parents, but he didn't mind the woman or her daughter. Her daughter was a year and five months older than he, making her eleven when their parents wed.
Declan's mother was less accommodating in terms of material items. She insisted she didn't want him spoiled, but her goal in life seemed to be being his best friend. He didn't want her to be. The more she tried, the more secretive he became. He resented that she wouldn't be a parent. He resented how often he took care of her, or cleaned up after her partying. Declan was his mother's protector, which made the prospect of attending Kumorai high school impossible when he was fourteen. Two years later, with the insistence of his father encouraging him to spend some time away from his mother, Declan agreed to attend.
Hobbies/Interest: Playing cello, cinematography, and occasional doodling
Strong Points: Intelligence. The source of his cynicism, but also the reason for many blessings in his life and the success of multiple relationships, he's at an above-average intelligence level. If nothing else, this helps him avoid unproductive lines of argument when angry with others.
Caring. On the surface Declan can seem incapable of love or care. He's harsh, uncommitted, and superficially cynical more often than not. He's the first to knock an arrogant classmate down a few pegs, or to roll his eyes at a peer who seems overly theatrical in their sorrow. But those that know him well would attest to his sincere-but-understated optimism and his general love for humanity.
Weak Points: His power is often be "on" without his knowledge, leading to a lot of accidents. Spilled water, falling flat when trying to sit in a chair, or sending a door slamming against the wall when he attempts to enter a room: all mortifying prospects for someone who would rather go unnoticed.
Declan is not physically strong, or imposing, which for someone prone to a bad attitude, can at times be problematic.
One does not simply acquire social skills. Declan's are hard won. Only through observation and practice has he gained a sense of what is expected of him. But for those privy to his innermost thoughts, they'd be aware of just how anxious social situations leave him.
Declan's fear of serious relationships, even lasting friendships, can often lead to him pushing others away unnecessarily.

Abilities:
Vector manipulation, the ability to manipulate or infuse kinetic energy upon objects from a distance. Does not require physical contact. Uses include:
- Creating a low-level force field: He cannot protect his entire body, he can only focus on propelling an object in one direction- if he's protecting his front, propelling objects away from himself, his back and sides are vulnerable to impact.
- Stopping the motion of objects: This requires focus on the object and a reasonable speed of the object (ie: no enhanced speed runners or super-strength throws), but he can deploy energy in the exact opposite, proportionate amount to stop the object. More often, he's imprecise and he'll slow it down to a near-stop, or send it slowly in the opposite direction. Alternatively, infusing energy into a stationary object can give it the illusion of repelling or being attracted to him.
- Setting himself in motion: This is the most unpredictable element of his power. In theory, Declan is sure he can propel himself. He's tried. In practice factors such as friction of his shoes, and the maintaining of balance as he moves, ensures he falls flat on his face any time he tries to speed himself up.
