The specially built studio space was cold and quiet this morning, an hour early prior to the class starting. There were wrist and ankle weights stacked in a corner, wooden weapons sitting cleaned and pristine in their racks, pads and helmets stacked in their respective places. The only source of movement was a middle-aged man in the middle of the room, warming up with calisthenics and a few techniques, before taking a breath and starting the flow of a single set of Yang style Tai Chi Chuan. The movements, flowing gracefully and fluidly, weren't blind. There was purpose behind each fan away, every step and kick. It was simply combat in its most elegant form, ready to be translated at the first sign of trouble. But for now, it was merely a means of bringing the mind and body together in harmony.
Finishing the set, Kveld grabbed a towel and wiped the sweat off his brow and neck, thinking of the day to come. This was his first year teaching, and he had yet to know what these students had learned before, or if they'd thought this was an easy course. Far from it; the first class of the day would always be his most difficult. And he hoped those that chose this would be well prepared for it. Tucking the thoughts away, he slipped on his gi top, tying it and tucking it into his pants. He didn't expect anyone to come in early, so he readied the paperwork for the students, setting it neatly in a stack before reading Tao Te Ching, contemplating the manuscript.

Finesse and Conditioning... Javel hadn't known what to expect, so he just wore the typical kind of gym outfit consisting of shorts, tennis shoes, and a short sleeve shirt that was probably too long. He hadn't arrived as early as the teacher had, but he arrived early enough that he could appreciate the coolness of the air.
The cool air put him in a good mood, causing a smile to break out on his face as he set a water bottle near one of the walls to make sure he was able to re-hydrate himself, a task far more important to someone of his abilities than it was for a normal human.
Finally, he'd stand up and turn to face the instructor, "Finesse and Conditioning, right?" he'd ask.

He heard the door open, but waited to finish the last flow of movements before moving to address the student. He finished the kata and took a deep breath, before standing straight and turning to the student. "Good morning. You're in the right place. Have a seat for now, and here's the class curriculum for you to read while you wait, unless you'd rather start warming up."
He grabbed his towel wiped away more sweat, moving to sit on his stool. He was tall enough, and his sleeveless gi top showed the well developed muscles in his arms. Not huge body builder guns, but a mix of power and strength in lean and well worked mix. He glanced at the student, seeing how he dressed.
"You'll see in the packet an address in town to pick up your uniforms. That will do for today, but later this week, regular pe clothes won't do you much good."

The young man would nod as it was confirmed he'd come to the right place. "sorry, Sir..I'll make sure to pick up the uniform after class." he said before starting to warm up in the way he normally would for a PE style class, making sure his muscles didn't end up tearing or anything.
"How many people are signed up for the class, sir?" he asked, wanting to get a feeling for how many people he was about to make himself look like an idiot in front of.

"It's fine. I'm sure you're not the only one." He said. He was certain everyone would wear the same thing, given he hadn't handed out the syllabus yet, nor made it available prior to this meeting time.
"About 20 signed up, but I expect that there will be less by the end of the week. I hope you don't expect this to be easy." He said softly, glancing to him.

Not long after, another student appeared, this time dressed a bit more appropriately. He wore a short sleeved shirt, workout pants, and slip on canvas shoes. He was tall, but not as tall as the instructor, with shaggy black hair and green eyes. He wasn't much to look at, but he carried himself in an assured manner. Seeing the other student stretching and warming up, and feeling a chill from the cold air, he decided to do the same.
"What are we going over today, sir?" His tone lacked emotion, but his gaze was intense, ready for whatever may come.

He glanced as the new student entered, slightly better prepared, but merely copying the motions. Kveld let the thought slide, as maybe this student may be sincere. It seemed that way as the student spoke, as though he looked forward to it. "Syllabus and basic warm up routines. The syllabus is available for you to browse now, I will elaborate on it in further detail if you have any questions once class begins." He stated, indicating the stack of papers on the desk near the door.

Javel would look over the Syllabus with a sigh, sitting down so that he could relax for a little while. It seemed to be the standard kind of stuff. Don't do this...please do this....this is required...this is not so required...etc.
So far, it seemed like it would be a relatively simple class to grasp.

He went over and picked up a syllabus, reading it over, his mind already drawing up questions. He glanced over one area and frowned. "Are partners required for these assignments?" He asked, not particularly pleased with having to group up. He would get sweaty enough; he didn't want to touch anyone else who was gross without being in direct combat.
Aside from that, everything indeed seemed like every other phys ed class he'd enrolled in.

Kveld frowned slightly at the question, the kid's ego and overall attitude would stop him from progressing far in this class, if he went through with it. "As I had previously explained, I will answer all of your questions once the class has started, so every student can benefit from it. If you cannot respect that, you can leave my class." The words were spoken calmly, but there was a stern expression on the instructor's face as the jagged scar on his face grew taught.
It was now 10 minutes until the start of class, and more students began to shamble in, some yawning, some slouched as they walked, clearly preferring sleep to activity.... Little did they remember that they all signed up for this.
Aurelian Kinzoku: Yes I would rather not want to buy more computers because of one little slip up..
Nov 29, 2014 17:51:30 GMT -8
Aiden Darkstrife: What about a screw cap or a water bottle?
Nov 30, 2014 20:58:47 GMT -8
Deleted: Some sealable containers are trustworthy.
Nov 30, 2014 21:14:03 GMT -8
Deleted: Hmmm... No hot cocoa near the computers? Sounds like a rule to break.
Dec 3, 2014 20:42:43 GMT -8
Lenny Robertson: I will tell you now, please do not ruin the computers or else you will be paying for a whole new one. We could make you help the janitorial staff for a while until we see the debt is paid. But that is totally up to you.
Dec 4, 2014 16:19:25 GMT -8
Deleted: Sorry Mr. R, but you know me
Dec 4, 2014 16:25:49 GMT -8
Silver Kinzoku: And we all know that Principla Kinzoku would be more than happy to put you on janitorial service to work off paying for a computer broken. Or torturing you during detention for breaking said rule.
Dec 9, 2014 20:04:39 GMT -8
Ichabod: I have told Aurelian that if any of his students gets out of hand to send them my way. I have a large graveyard to take care of and only two hands to do it.
Dec 9, 2014 20:33:52 GMT -8
Canary La Muerte: it's too dang cold to be doing volunteer work for the city. I think i'll just wake up a little earlier and enjoy cocoa in the cafeteria.
Dec 11, 2014 17:18:59 GMT -8
Ichabod: But we have coffee and cocoa at the work cabin. It will be fun.
Dec 11, 2014 20:27:38 GMT -8
Kveldulf Argenlet: If graveyard work is insufficient, the park ranger of the Kumorai Forest informed me he needs volunteers to help remove invasive plants and dig fire ditches.
Dec 12, 2014 11:00:31 GMT -8
Lien Braska: He gave me towel duty once... i think the students get the idea. No monkey business.
Dec 14, 2014 11:25:43 GMT -8
Kveldulf Argenlet: There is an overwhelming amount of towels from the PE department that need washing, and frankly I'm rather tired of cleaning after your messes.
Dec 14, 2014 13:16:32 GMT -8
Ichabod: Isn't that part of the job description?
Dec 14, 2014 21:07:20 GMT -8
Silver Kinzoku: doesn't matter if it is... it can easily be pushed off onto a detention student. *smirk*
Dec 15, 2014 12:38:08 GMT -8
Zariah Marie Weaver: Ew... I wouldn't get caught dead washing those disgusting towels.
Dec 17, 2014 20:32:45 GMT -8
Renee Nakamura: Oh, do not worry. The nurses office has plenty of gloves and sanitary gels for the clean up. -Snickers-
Dec 19, 2014 20:11:38 GMT -8
Zariah Marie Weaver: I'm good. I'd rather just be smart and not get into trouble
Dec 28, 2014 16:58:38 GMT -8
Silver Kinzoku: Good to hear! Then things will run smooth.
