The full rising moon above the little sushi shop shone down brightly illuminating the buildings with a silvery glow, guiding customers to the little shop that was Japanese styled with a sliding front door, and no windows. Inside there was a long sushi bar with one chef working and serving. To the right are several wooden tables some with booths and some with nice wooden chairs that have a padded bottom. All along the walls are pictures of Sushi to show customers what they are, and there are little Japanese decorations hanging from the ceilings, on shelves on the walls, and even in some potted plants. The private dining room tonight was closed for a party of some local business men but right in front of the private dining room was a dark oak stag about six feet long by four feet wide.
Normally a stage in a sushi restaurant was quite unusual but in America, all things were possible. Just like the future of the young girl who was in the back changing room, slipping into a beautiful pink and white kimono with little butterflies embroidered throughout. Her long raven black hair was tied into a traditional bun but unlike a Geisha, her face was not painted. Instead she had simple eye liner and chap stick. Not that it would matter as she rose to stand about 5'2" with two inches of lift from her wooden sandals and white socks to keep her feet warm. The kimono covered her feet but she knew they would been seen sometimes if anyone paid attention. She reached over, picking up the delicate porcelain mask and applied it carefully to her face. It was painted to look like a Geisha and the reason she didn't have to go through all the makeup... and her mask to give her courage to perform.
Her eyes glanced from behind the mask at the clock on the wall as she moved to the door, picking up two large fans and headed out as the clock hit 8 o'clock. Sweeping out of the back room and right onto the stage, the music from the speakers had quieted but now... now they were waiting for her. She lifted up the fans and took her first pose as people throughout the restaurant quieted to watch the show. The music sprang forth from the speakers and quickly her body moved to the music, the traditional dance mesmerized the crowd as the young woman began to move with precise movements, each step well practiced and well choreographed from her teachers oh so long ago.
Behind the mask her mind was clear even if her heart was beating faster than normal. Her hands were even steady as she opened and closed the fans to move in sync with her own graceful motions, the music slowly swept away the nervous feeling in her heart as she twirled about and the audience watched on. As the song slowed she turned, eyes opening from behind the mask, a bit breathless as the audience applauded the performance. She bowed them all before sweeping off the stage and into the back. A large smile was on her face as Ayumi removed the mask and set it back into her locker before removing the kimono and dressed in black slacks, white shirt, and then a large Japanese styled shirt over that, with a little black waist apron. She took a moment before she went out, relishing in her good performance.
