A caring and affection soul, Aurelian is a upstanding citizen in the Shadow City community. He's a well known bachelor who is married to his work, and cares deeply for all of the children in Kumorai high school. He can be strict though, knowing that guidance often takes a firm hand, but an open ear. He's a wonderful listener, often giving advice to his young students. He is also very generous since most of the school funds are from his family inheritance. The only time Aurelian is ever really not himself is when he hasn't been sleeping well, and then if he hasn't had coffee he can be a real grouch.
Ability(s):
Metallic Manipulation - he can bend and manipulate metals of all kinds however the more durable the metal or the larger the amount, the more he must concentrate his powers into it. If he has direct hand contact on the metal this power comes with ease, but the further he his, again this power becomes more difficult.
Description:
He's rather tall standing at 6'2 with broad shoulders, a strong jawline, hair that looks like its spun of gold. Usually he has on a pair of back rimmed glasses that darken in sunlight as his bright golden eyes are rather sensitive to light.
History:
As the eldest of the Kinzoku family, he was always counted on to be responsible and in charge of his two younger sisters. His family started out nice with his father as Principal, mother as vice principal, and his grandmother from his father's side all living together. Christmases were bountiful as the Kinzoku family are one of the founding families and have been well established in the community.
His father passed away when he was ten, leaving him as the only man in the family. Mrs. Kinzoku did her best to raise the children right and became the principal of Kumorai High after her husband's passing. In front of everyone she was a chipper woman who wasn't down by her husband's death but behind closed doors the children watched as their mother started taking anti depressants, and various other pills.
For a while their grandmother cared for their mother, but the heartache of losing her only son was too hard for the older woman to handle. She had a heart attack and passed when Aurelian was 14. Since his sisters were much younger than himself, Aurelian put the weight of the world on himself with keeping his mother alright when she would drink and take too many pills. He did his best not to let his sisters see but it was hard on him. When he wasn't home he was focused on school, sports, and other extra curricular activities. He knew the longer he stayed in school the longer his mother was there and she always behaved well in public.
By 17 he and one of his sisters knew they were losing the fight for their mother's life. She would drink heavily, miss work, and lock herself away in her bedroom for days. They told their youngest sister that their mother was just sick, and luckily the young girl believed them. It was near the end of Aurelian's senior year that his mother managed to overdose and pass away... he was the one who found her body.
The courts granted him custody over his two sisters and their inheritance was split three ways, the girls got theirs when they turned 18. He did his best to take care of his sisters, go to college, and keep everything together but it wasn't easy for him. The eldest of the girls and he started to argue more and more, growing more distant and acting more like a divorced mother and father than siblings. When the youngest turned 18, he signed the lease to the house to her and moved out. Choosing to leave behind his family home and instead lead his own life.
Once he finished college he took on the role as Kumorai's science teacher, but eventually moved up to be the Principal like his father.
House/Apartment Description:
This small cottage home has a spacious living room with a wood fireplace. The flooring is tile on the first floor including the cozy kitchen with a darling morning light breakfast nook. The stairs are carpeted leading to three bedrooms upstairs. The Master bedroom is furnished with a large bed, television, and a writing desk. Another bedroom is used as a study and computer room, while the third is a guest bedroom. There's a lovely porch area with a small vegetable garden in the back and a bench swing near an old oak tree.
Likes:
Fresh veggies, a nice cut of steak, books, gardening, education, helping his students out, hot mochas, playing board games, planning events for his students, helping others, the smell of the library, football, baseball, water polo, and heading to the mall on his days off.
Dislikes:
Sandy skin after a day at the beach, any canned meats, losing at sports, cold coffee (iced is fine but once a hot coffee goes cold he can't stand the taste), worms in his garden, and snow flurry days.
