Ichabod watched intently as he saw the food come to him. He was so transfixed on the food that he barely heard what Aurelian was saying. Something about food and sweets but once Aurelian's family was mentioned he drew his attention back to the conversation.
What people didn't know, or rather Ichabod failed to tell people. He didn't have a family any longer, he was lonely most of the time over the years. Of course, he had the occasion partner along the way but once they got to old or they were tired of him, he was once again alone. He was married once but she was killed because she cavorted with a beast like himself. The people of the world were a lot less accepting as there are today. But he had never actually loved anyone since.
He offered a smile in regards to his families fun past. "Sweets are a kids best friend, it would seem." He tried to think about to his time as a child, "I never had to many sweets as a child, but I enjoyed and I still do enjoy fresh baked bread."

"Ah bread.." Aurelian nodded. "Truth be told my guilty sin was always cheese. Something about it was just so delicious." he chuckled as took his tray and motioned with his head for Ichabod to follow to the front where the cashier was. He paid for their meals and then headed over to a table to sit down. He took the food off the tray, settling the carrier to the side. He was particular, arranging the main meal in front of him, pushing things apart without really thinking about it till they were all in their perfect little places. A sign of OCD but one he really didn't really care if he had or not.
"Canary likes breads as well but sweet breads from her home in Mexico. Sadly there are not many bakeries here in town that do them... or do them well. Sometimes I think she misses her home but then... I remember the state I found her in. The poor little thing was a wild child on the streets struggling to survive the day. Hardly any education and covered in grime. I look at her today and I can't help but feel so much pride in her." he even got a little teary eyed as he spoke of it but he was quick to blink them away before lifting his fork to cut into the crepe. "Still... I wish I could find a place that does them like her home." he shook his head and took a bite of the crepe, it was perfect as always and he savored the mix of breakfast flavors and the bit of sweetness that came with it as well.
He could reciprocate the need for the norm, his normal was bread or raw meat. Ichabod only ate them whenever he was feeling like crap and needed something to cling too. So, Canary wanted to have a piece of home he got that. He sighed silent as possible not to sound aggravated, "I know of a place but it is quite the distance away."
With Ichabod living for so long, he knew a lot of people and had been to even more places. He could, if Aurelian would like the assistance, make a visit to an old friend into the lower peninsula. She wasn't as old as him, not by any means, but she would need somethings in return, that's how she had always been and that *something* was always physical.
"If you would like, I may be able to give you something of the sort." He was acting slightly odd but he figured that it would be for a good cause. If it makes the young lady smile and that could make Aurelian happy at least for a little while.

Aurelian brightened a little bit more at the words as he paused to think about it. An authentic Spanish bread for his daughter? What wouldn't he do for her to get her such things? He dabbed his lips with the napkin and nodded as he swallowed the last bit of the bite in his mouth. "I would love to get her some, however far it is I don't mind travel at all. I actually enjoy travel quite a bit." he smirked and reached to pick up a strawberry and took a little bite of it, trying to imagine Canary's face when she took a bite of the fresh bread.
"I could probably go this Saturday if you have the time. Canary will doing some school function for raising money for the winter ball. It would be wonderful if I could have the treats ready for her when she gets home with a nice big cup of champurrado.. I can at least make that for her to go with it. You should come over as well. We can have a nice meal and that as dessert together. Usually after dinner Canary and I watch... anime together." he blushed ever so slightly at the mention of it. "She's really big into anime and cosplay and I like to keep up to date with her anime so we can talk about it."
He nodded in conformation to being available for this Saturday, "That sounds fine to me." He should have to deal with the cemetery for at least a few more days. Though, he still showed up anyways out of habit.
"Your Canary keeps herself very busy, I would assume." He smiled, "I was never gifted with anything as precious as a child." He had really thought about having children, he could have never have thought of himself as a father. Ichabods smiled wavered ever so slightly as his memories flashed through his head as if searching for something he had forgotten but he knew all to well of the memory, the one memory he spent so long trying to forget.
Once the offer of having dinner was mentioned he stoned himself and his smiled returned as before, "I would be a great honor to come for dinner but I will have to pass on this anime." He had heard of the craze year ago and never looked into it. He spent a while, when television first came about, watching the programs but he preferred music and books over television programs.
He took another bite of his breakfast sandwich and washed it down with a sip of his hot coffee.

He nodded, glad that the man was able to come to the house this weekend. He would need to stock up on a few things... he was certain he could easily go and pick it up at the grocery tonight though. He took another bite of his own meal and once again used his napkin to dab his lips to get any remnants off of his mouth. He was very polite, never spoke with his mouth full at least. But it was at least to be expected. The Kinzoku family line had been in Kumorai a long time as a prestigious family.
"Aye... she's part of many things in the school. I worry sometimes that she's getting enough rest but when i see her she's always so... bubbly and happy and her grades never slip up! Even when I was younger I think I was only student council and sports. She's such an active young woman now." he chuckled, giving a slight head shake as he thought of her. The way she bounced happily around the house when she would dress up in her anime costumes and would pretend to be a character.. truly adorable.
He finished the last bite of his breakfast and then opened the milk carton to take a sip before picking up one of the fresh sweet strawberries from the little bowl. He spun the strawberries gently in his fingers, pushing the green leaves up before he brought it the tip to his lips and took a bite. He savored it a bit, enjoying the flavor before looking back up at Ichabod and swallowed the bite. "It's alright if you don't want to stay for the anime. It's about the only tv I really watch anymore. Though I really do enjoy a bit of opera late at night."
Ichabod finished off his sandwich quickly but casually. He was astounded by the activeness of his new friend and his daughter. "And here I could surviving the 1500s was tough, you guys have it a lot worse." He laughed out a bit comparing both of there past lives. "I never experienced the schooling you and Canary had so I can only speculate but it sounds more taxing than how my life was." His thoughts explored to the running and hiding of his past, "People of my kind weren't welcoming as they are today."
He picked up his coffee and gave it a quick sniff enjoying the dark roasted liquid. With the sniff his thoughts came back to the present. He heard the mention of the opera and smiled, "I do enjoy the occasional opera event, it must be the people of old that enjoy the finer things in the life." He raised his coffee in camaraderie with a grin.

Aurelian smirked a little at that with a nod. "School is pretty hard. Some of the students become so stressed out they tend to slip up a bit with their powers. Especially during finals. Makes me a little glad my younger sister is coming into town. She was a fun loving young woman so I'm sure she'll liven up the place for the students. And I am allowing them to have a winter ball this year... my daughter and a few others are planning it." he took another bite of the berry, finishing it off and set the top onto his empty plate before reaching for another as he thought a bit.
"Indeed the opera is never appreciated like it used to be. For a while I couldn't listen to it over the stereo. It just wasn't the same as seeing it live. But then I got this wonderful sound system that if you close your eyes... you could swear you are right there." he explained. "Perhaps we'll put on a bit of opera with dinner. Canary doesn't mind it but it certainly isn't her cup of tea." he chuckled a bit.
Ichabod listened as he explained the bit about his school, he schooling was about surviving so learning about how a school was in this time was fascinating. "Struggling students with unstable abilities could cause problems but I am sure you have had you fair share of experience with that and know how to work quickly in such a case." He could see just by looking at the man that he could hold his own again most, if not all of the students here without causing much harm to them. Ichabod would probably cause more harm than good if he was teaching in a place like this school. He could handle punk kids but his type of teaching is much more strict than what the teachers here could provide for them.
He nodded with a tight lipped smile at the mention of opera and dinner. "We all have different types of music that we enjoy but I am sure we could come up with some sort of equal balance." He hadn't spent much time in the opera houses but he would occasionally stand outside of the buildings to listen to the gentle voices of the singers. The large amount of people was the only thing that unnerved him about going but he could have always had gotten boxed seat but why break tradition. His smiled continued thinking about the music this mans child could listen too.

Aurelian paused a bit, thinking about his powers and remembering his past once again, but about this certain topic he didn't seem so unsure or scared of it. "Actually..." he rubbed the back of his head and then looked back up at Ichabod. "My powers came in really naturally and gradually. I was learned to master them with ease surprisingly. I have the unique gift to manipulate and bend metals.. it has truly come in handy against students who's powers have gotten out of control but against some it doesn't help at all." he chuckled a bit and then reached back to his berries to finish them off along with the last of his still chilled milk.
A great breakfast, a great conversation... and here he had been worried about how his day would go and so far... meeting this man had made it go much better than he thought it would. Sadly Aurelian knew he needed to get to his office, as more and more students were appearing in the cafeteria. "How about I meet you this weekend at the Great Oak Park? I can bring my car and from there we can travel to the place you told me about and then have dinner at my place, hm?" he wanted to make sure the plans were set... he was excited for this weekend, and to make it up to his daughter.
Aurelian Kinzoku: Yes I would rather not want to buy more computers because of one little slip up..

Aiden Darkstrife: What about a screw cap or a water bottle?

Lenny Robertson: I will tell you now, please do not ruin the computers or else you will be paying for a whole new one. We could make you help the janitorial staff for a while until we see the debt is paid. But that is totally up to you.

Silver Kinzoku: And we all know that Principla Kinzoku would be more than happy to put you on janitorial service to work off paying for a computer broken. Or torturing you during detention for breaking said rule.

Ichabod: I have told Aurelian that if any of his students gets out of hand to send them my way. I have a large graveyard to take care of and only two hands to do it.
Dec 9, 2014 20:33:52 GMT -8
Canary La Muerte: it's too dang cold to be doing volunteer work for the city. I think i'll just wake up a little earlier and enjoy cocoa in the cafeteria.
Dec 11, 2014 17:18:59 GMT -8
Ichabod: But we have coffee and cocoa at the work cabin. It will be fun.
Dec 11, 2014 20:27:38 GMT -8
Kveldulf Argenlet: If graveyard work is insufficient, the park ranger of the Kumorai Forest informed me he needs volunteers to help remove invasive plants and dig fire ditches.
Dec 12, 2014 11:00:31 GMT -8
Lien Braska: He gave me towel duty once... i think the students get the idea. No monkey business.
Dec 14, 2014 11:25:43 GMT -8
Kveldulf Argenlet: There is an overwhelming amount of towels from the PE department that need washing, and frankly I'm rather tired of cleaning after your messes.
Dec 14, 2014 13:16:32 GMT -8
Ichabod: Isn't that part of the job description?
Dec 14, 2014 21:07:20 GMT -8
Silver Kinzoku: doesn't matter if it is... it can easily be pushed off onto a detention student. *smirk*
Dec 15, 2014 12:38:08 GMT -8
Zariah Marie Weaver: Ew... I wouldn't get caught dead washing those disgusting towels.
Dec 17, 2014 20:32:45 GMT -8
Renee Nakamura: Oh, do not worry. The nurses office has plenty of gloves and sanitary gels for the clean up. -Snickers-
Dec 19, 2014 20:11:38 GMT -8
Zariah Marie Weaver: I'm good. I'd rather just be smart and not get into trouble
Dec 28, 2014 16:58:38 GMT -8
Silver Kinzoku: Good to hear! Then things will run smooth.
