Canary gave yet another little sigh as the thoughts settled on her young mind. It was hard for her to see it from that point of view but maybe one day he would get over it... maybe he would see that family is family no matter what you struggle to go through and it would be because of her. The thought was comforting at least as she looked out over the graveyard that had so many lost lives. She turned back to Ichabod and gave him a warm smile. "You can always speak with them... I am sure they listen. Where I am from, they have day of the dead festivals. Dia de los muertos. I would watch people going to graves to remember their ancestors and other loved ones they had lost. Graves of those not remember I would go to... I didn't belong to anyone so I tried to remember those who were lost..." she thought about the graves, and she had been too poor to afford any offerings but she would spend a few minutes at the graves all over.
Like many of the tombstones no one would pay attention to the little orphan girl. No one wanted to be bothered by the homeless when they would celebrate with their happy families. Aurelian had been different though... he had seen her and he wanted to help her. She drew a deep breath, her heart lifting at the memory but she turned to Ichabod. "The fact that you remember them is enough to keep their memories and souls alive." she assured him softly.
He smiled gently back to the young lady, "I do what I think is right even if it is for the dead." He took another sip of his beer and came to the realization, "It is late, don't you think your father would be worried about where you are?"
He figured he should offer his protection so she would get home safely, "I have nothing else going on tonight. Would you like me to see you home?"

She paused at the question, mismatched eyes suddenly going wide as she grabbed her cellphone from her pocket and yanked it out. She opened it up to gaze at the time and then groaned. "You're so right... it's late and if I miss curfew Aurelian will do something evil." she sighed and slipped her phone back into her pocket before removing the jacket and held it out to him. "It's alright... I'm probably going to run the entire way and it's just to the school dorms." she offered the duster back to the original owner and smiled at him softly.
"Thank you so much for the talk tonight. It really helped.... and the water! I'm sure i'll be very thirsty but the time I reach the dorms." she didn't want to insult him but she was a track athlete, and an older man running wasn't really good on their hearts. Aurelian even was out of shape from time to time when he helped her train. He had been a great football athlete when he was younger but now he wasn't in such good shape.
"Thought the punishment may be unfair, it would be justified if you do not hurry" He took back his jacket with a smile, "It was good speaking with you as well." He nodded, "Well then, you have a pleasant night and if you feel you need someone to talk to again. You know where I will be."
She was being nice, she was fit as a fiddle and she was thinking about the old mans age. Ichabod may be old but he could still match The Flash in speed and the Superman in strength, if he wanted too. He nodded once again as he gingerly walked past Canary and back to his supplies to put them away. He disappeared into the trees behind the shed to oversee the girls way home.
Aurelian Kinzoku: Yes I would rather not want to buy more computers because of one little slip up..

Deleted: Hmmm... No hot cocoa near the computers? Sounds like a rule to break.

Lenny Robertson: I will tell you now, please do not ruin the computers or else you will be paying for a whole new one. We could make you help the janitorial staff for a while until we see the debt is paid. But that is totally up to you.

Deleted: Sorry Mr. R, but you know me

Silver Kinzoku: And we all know that Principla Kinzoku would be more than happy to put you on janitorial service to work off paying for a computer broken. Or torturing you during detention for breaking said rule.

Ichabod: I have told Aurelian that if any of his students gets out of hand to send them my way. I have a large graveyard to take care of and only two hands to do it.

Canary La Muerte: it's too dang cold to be doing volunteer work for the city. I think i'll just wake up a little earlier and enjoy cocoa in the cafeteria.
Dec 11, 2014 17:18:59 GMT -8
Ichabod: But we have coffee and cocoa at the work cabin. It will be fun.
Dec 11, 2014 20:27:38 GMT -8
Kveldulf Argenlet: If graveyard work is insufficient, the park ranger of the Kumorai Forest informed me he needs volunteers to help remove invasive plants and dig fire ditches.
Dec 12, 2014 11:00:31 GMT -8
Lien Braska: He gave me towel duty once... i think the students get the idea. No monkey business.
Dec 14, 2014 11:25:43 GMT -8
Kveldulf Argenlet: There is an overwhelming amount of towels from the PE department that need washing, and frankly I'm rather tired of cleaning after your messes.
Dec 14, 2014 13:16:32 GMT -8
Ichabod: Isn't that part of the job description?
Dec 14, 2014 21:07:20 GMT -8
Silver Kinzoku: doesn't matter if it is... it can easily be pushed off onto a detention student. *smirk*
Dec 15, 2014 12:38:08 GMT -8
Zariah Marie Weaver: Ew... I wouldn't get caught dead washing those disgusting towels.
Dec 17, 2014 20:32:45 GMT -8
Renee Nakamura: Oh, do not worry. The nurses office has plenty of gloves and sanitary gels for the clean up. -Snickers-
Dec 19, 2014 20:11:38 GMT -8
Zariah Marie Weaver: I'm good. I'd rather just be smart and not get into trouble
Dec 28, 2014 16:58:38 GMT -8
Silver Kinzoku: Good to hear! Then things will run smooth.
